Lync’s Data in Use SDK enables content inspection of data being transferred to removable media. The unique file filter driver captures files as they are being transferred to removable media, allowing for the content to be inspected and an action (block, encrypt, retain a copy of the file, user acknowledgment) taken before the file reaches the device.
- Capture file and extract content before it reaches the removable media device
- Transfer the entire file or extract the metadata to a common format for inspection
- Allow, Block, Encrypt, convert to PDF and/or retain a copy - all based on content inspection policies
- Force the user to acknowledge and justify the file transfer when copying sensitive data
- If PC or notebook is offline, can cache details of the file operation, including retained copy and then upload when back on-line
- Different policies can be applied depending on whether online or offline
