Won't there be some overlaps with other management and security products?

Yes, potentially there will be. However, Lync products focus on removable media, where typically other management and security products do not.

How do you differentiate yourselves from other competitors?

There are several differentiators, the key ones being:

  • The ability to extend the security reach to removable media devices
  • Real-time deployment of policy - you don't have to continually update policies for each installed PC
  • File locking - read and write
  • Device blocking - by type of device
What sort of sales support do you have for partners?

There is a dedicated Partner Management team who will work closely with you on various marketing initiatives. In addition to this, there are brochures, email/mail templates and other documentation. Also, we will provide on-site sales support where logistically possible, to assist in the closing of sales where the customer may want to meet the vendor.

Will you be selling direct to customers?

It is not our focus to sell direct to customers. We will concentrate on marketing the brand and products to generate leads for our partners.

What is the size of your customer base?

Approximately 2000+ currently use Lync USB, Lync MDA and DeviceShield which was launched in December 2005.

What operating systems does your software run on?

Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

How is your software installed?

The management console is installed on any Windows machine and database is installed on a server (or nominated dedicated PC) and a small client is installed on each PC.

How often does the polling of data occur to the server?

It is real-time, when events occur.

Can the user turn off the auditing/monitoring on the client?

No, only users with administrative privileges can install or uninstall the client.

What happens when a PC/Laptop becomes disconnected from the server?

The software runs locally, capturing all of the activities. When the device re-connects to the network, all updates are synchronised to the server database.

Typically, how would you work with an OEM partner?

We provide the client side technology to integrate with their management console.
